Canelo vs Kirkland: Prediction

Houston, TX – The arena is filling up, the rain is still coming down, there promises to be thunder in the sky as well as the ring tonight. Mexican superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez takes on the hard punching James Kirkland in a fight that guarantees to deliver some serious action.

Canelo was last seen in July of 2014, when he received a gift decision against Cuban southpaw Erislandy Lara. Canelo was fortunate to escape the fight without getting a loss, as the majority of fans saw the fight as a one sided victory for Lara.

Kirkland has not been in a boxing ring since December 2013, when he annihilated Glen Tapia. He has since parted ways with his on again off again trainer Anne Wolfe.

Canelo is the favorite, as he well should be. It is hard to imagine that Kirkland is ready for this type of fight after coming off 17 month layoff and dropping his trainer. Although, Kirkland has the warrior mentality and punching power to finish any fighter off on any night. Canelo is there to be hit. Look for some viscous exchanges in the opening rounds and for both men to taste the canvas. Kirkland by upset stoppage victory.
